winters wonderland

SIGH... I wish I could be there again. Alpe di Siusi was the closest I've ever been to a winter's wonderland, and with all the snow that's falling across Europe right now, I bet it's really looking the part! With this in mind, I hope that everyone had a wonderful festive weekend, was aptly spoilt and indulged far too much! Now there's only a few days left until we get to celebrate again, only this time it's to welcome in the New Year 2011... YEH!

Venetian blues

Here are a few more images from my time in Venice. As you can see, I really loved capturing the countless architectural details found along Venice's many backstreets and canals. Even now when I look back at these photographs I am still amazed by the incredible quality of the craftsmanship. It's a crying shame though that this exquisite beauty will eventually fade and that the skills needed to replicate it, are long gone forgotten...

Just a little something 'pure' to see you all into the weekend. I'll be busy organizing my sister's hens party tomorrow evening and then plan to spend a long time in my overgrown veggie patch come Sunday. Hope yours is full of fun and leisurely moments. Enjoy it where ever you are, xo Janine

Venice by morning's first light

December 9, 2010

Hello everyone. I hope that this week's treating you well. I'm sun-kissed and feeling energised after returning from a mid-week location shoot on a beautiful wine farm in Somerset West. Since I'm feeling kind of chirpy, I thought I'd begin sharing with you today a little more about my trip to Italy.

Although I'm jumping ahead on the timescale - let's start with our weekend visit to Venice. To be honest, I have mixed feelings for this historical beauty on the water since Venice is VERY busy by day and is sadly somewhat of a tourist trap. Therefore the only way to experience her true charm I feel, is to wake up early and explore her many secrets at sunrise. Which is exactly what we did. The soft muted colours, the deserted streets and empty squares, the contrast of architecture reflected in glassy water, made Venice by morning's first light one of Italy's most enchanting cities... but you had better enjoy the magic while it lasts, for soon her endless labyrinth of streets and canals will be bustling with the touristy masses once more.

autumn's last vesper

Towards the end of our stay in Italy it started to get noticeably cooler and darker, as Autumn in all her glowing glory slowly made way for Winter's first rains. There was a tangible sense of lament in the air, as we witnessed the gloomy signs of a fading season in all that surrounded us. This is Autumn's last vesper...

green is for GO

Dear friends. I have a confession to make. Due to the hopeless fact that I'm really struggling with the which, what and how of my Italian trip photos, I've had to take a firm stand against my indecision and say enough's ENOUGH! Lets just start with something simple and then let the rest follow from there. Okay? Okay! So here you have it: something simple, and for 'em frayed nerves, something tranquil. And of course the theme's a revelatory one... green is for GO... yeah!
